My name is Mark Antosh. Mine is a story of survival, struggle, and perseverance. I’ve had big dreams and art has always been something that was important to me even when I was on a break from it.
I came up through the foster care system along with my siblings. We were lucky in many ways, but it was challenging. Sports and art were my outlet. At times, one took over more than the other, but they were both very important to me.
Years ago, I was a professional boxer and MMA fighter. That part of my life ended suddenly after I suffered two strokes in my last competitive fight. As you can imagine, I had to relearn much of everything, and it left me with a traumatic brain injury and other injuries to my body causing me years of chronic pain. For a very long time my life was defined by sports, and I was unsure who I was without boxing and MMA. I certainly was unsure of what life had in store for me next. I had difficulty understanding why my dreams were snatched away from me in a matter of moments.
The years that followed were extremely difficult. I experienced great loss, fell into a depression, was angry, and isolated myself by pushing loved ones away. There were a select few that hung around through it all, hard that it was, and pushed me to come out the other side.
From the amazing support, belief in me, and renewed inner strength, I rediscovered my passion for art!
My journey has been challenging. I have struggled and continue to struggle each day. But I have lots of love and support surrounding me. I have discovered abstract art to find peace, joy, and a creative outlet that allows me to express myself and take me away from the day-to-day challenges that I face. I reconnected with my artistic self from when I was in grade school and remember that wonderful feeling that used to come over me. It still does today!
My paintings for sale represent my new self.
For anyone that experienced loss like me, you can CERTAINLY find a new passion. I hope that you will consider purchasing a piece from my collection!
